A LABOR (DAY) OF LOVE
Hello good people! We are excited for the long weekend, and between all the hub-bub of back-to-school and squeeeezing in that last-minute Summer trip, you may not have planned a menu for your Labor Day Weekend cookout.
Don’t worry—we’ve got you! Here are a few ideas, but there’s so much more, so be sure to browse through our full list of recipes in our newsletter archives!
We’ve got plenty of Cocktails to whet your guests’ whistles. Try a batch of Josh’s Signature Pomegranate Margarita or Elizabeth’s Boozy Peach-Mango Smoothies.
Need some appetizers and dips that will make you the hit of the party? Elizabeth’s Grilled Shrimp Cocktail is a real show stopper, and don’t forget about her Homemade Buttermilk Ricotta. Anthony’s Spicy Cashew “Queso” is perfect for dunking tortilla chips or Fritos. Or start the meal with some perfect late-Summer Tomato Toasts or succulent Chimichurri Chicken Wings!
Looking for mains? How ‘bout some Barbecue Ribs, Perfect Burgers and Hot Dogs, Big Bold Steaks (no need to thaw!), even Pizzas, Skirt Steak Tacos, and Chicken any way you want it! Or you could keep it light with a Greek Salad with Grilled Chicken Paillard or Grilled Chicken with Peaches and Burrata.
Side Dishes are our love language. We’ve got recipes for the absolute BEST Baked Beans, Mac ‘n’ Cheese Perfection, a Summery Fresh Panzanella, two different Cole Slaws, Deviled Eggs, a Tropical Jicama Slaw, or Grilled Asparagus (with a Fire-Roasted Romesco Sauce). And don’t forget Elizabeth’s Cool as a Cucumber Salad (which is a perfect pairing with rich, beefy dishes!).
There’s always room for dessert (it goes in a different pocket!). Of course there are crowd pleasers like a Summer Berry Crostata and No-Bake S’mores, but don’t forget about our late-Summer Plum Tortes, Lemon Raspberry Loaf, Skillet Brownies (can also be made in a regular pan!), Raspberry Crunch Bars, and a festive Berry Dessert Pizza.
We love creating these recipes for you, and hope you’ll enjoy them around your table for the last blast of Summer. Happy Labor Day! xx
That’s it for this week! As always, if you make our recipes, tag us on the ‘gram (@kitchensitch & @elizabethkarmel), and use the hashtag #whats4dinner. Happy cooking!!
